Finishing construction is a big milestone, but it’s not the end of our relationship with you.
A custom home or major remodel brings together thousands of details. And sometimes, questions don’t surface until your family has had a chance to actually live in the space through a few changing Colorado seasons.
That’s why at Petra, our one-year workmanship warranty has a clear process for bringing those questions to our team.
What Does Petra’s One-Year Workmanship Warranty Cover?
We provide a one-year workmanship warranty covering work performed by our team and subcontractors on your project.
If work we built or installed does not meet industry standards, applicable law, or your project’s contract documents, we will correct it at no charge to you, subject to the terms of your construction agreement.
The correction will be completed by the original trade partner or another qualified company held to the same standard.
Your construction agreement controls all warranty rights, obligations, limitations, and exclusions.
When Does the One-Year Workmanship Warranty Begin?
Your warranty period begins when the project passes final inspection. For a remodel, a letter of completion documents that date. For a new home, it’s documented by the certificate of occupancy. We also send you a warranty letter identifying the start and end dates, so you won’t have to guess about the timeline.
If you submit a written warranty request before the one-year period ends, that request stays open until the correction is complete, even if the work itself extends beyond the one-year date.
Warranty work does not restart or extend the original warranty period.
What Isn’t Covered?
The one-year workmanship warranty does not replace the warranties provided by manufacturers for appliances, fixtures, equipment, and other manufactured products. Your project manager will provide the appropriate contacts for those items.
The warranty also excludes:
- Damage from power surges and lightning
- Natural variations in the color, grain, and texture of wood, stone, and other materials
- Changes caused by weather exposure, including snow and ice buildup
- Wood shrinkage
- Caulking cracks
- Ongoing home maintenance
Your construction agreement contains the full warranty terms, including applicable limitations and exclusions.
How to Submit a Warranty Request
If something comes up after move-in, start by emailing warranty@petracustombuilders.com with a description of the issue and photos.
The project manager from your project will own the request from intake through completion. This is part of continuing the relationship we’ve built throughout your project, instead of handing you off once construction is finished.
We acknowledge every warranty request in writing within two business days. Active water leaks, gas concerns, electrical hazards, and other safety issues receive a same-day response.
Once we receive your request, a site assessment is scheduled within ten business days. After that assessment, we confirm the coverage decision in writing. If the issue is covered by our warranty, The Pack coordinates the correction during business hours or at another mutually agreed-upon time.
Please contact us before arranging a repair yourself. Repairs completed by others before Petra has the opportunity to assess and correct the work are not reimbursable.
The 11-Month Warranty Walk
We don’t expect you to spend the first year in your new or updated space keeping one eye on the calendar.
Eleven months after the final inspection, your project manager meets with you at your home to walk through it together. If you identify workmanship issues during that walk, we log them as written warranty requests before your warranty period closes.
It’s one more point of connection in a process built around staying connected with you and not disappearing after the final walkthrough.
Build With People Who Stick Around
When something needs attention after move-in, homeowners who work with Petra know who to contact, how quickly we respond, and what we stand behind. That kind of relationship is built throughout the entire project, and lasts far beyond construction.
